End-of-Summer Blues? Here’s what you can do!

As summer starts to wind down, for many of us, anxiety starts to ramp up. Schools will be back in session, schedules will change, daylight is growing shorter, temperatures will start getting cooler, and the holidays aren’t too far off.

As a result, you or someone you know may be experiencing:

  • Increased anxiety
  • Fatigue or sluggishness
  • Feeling low or irritable
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Lack of focus or motivation
  • Feeling lonely or disconnected from others
  • Experiencing social isolation

These are all normal, temporary responses to change. However, if you are still feeling this way for more than a couple of weeks or these feelings worsen, we recommend reaching out to a mental health professional for support.

In the meantime, LifeBack has created a list of ways to welcome the changing of the season, rather than dreading it.

  1. Create, restart, or continue change-of-season traditions
  2. Start a new self-care routine
  3. Engage in outdoor activities
  4. Learn a new hobby or skill
  5. Set new goals for the fall
  6. Make plans to connect with others

While it may be difficult to say farewell to summer, fall brings a lot of potential and possibility if you’re willing to embrace it. Not sure where to start? Our highly trained clinicians are ready to help! Therapy can provide a non-judgmental space to explore how seasonal changes affect you and ways to address it effectively.
